Mt. Cutler Back in January

The last weekend of January we went on a hike up Mt. Cutler and we took our new camera. We hadn't planned on taking it, but our little one wasn't charged. It was a glorious 60 degree weekend. In the spring/summer you can see a couple of waterfalls, but they were all still frozen. The first half of the hike was still covered in ice and snow. As we got closer to the top we kinda lost our way. We took a short break before the final ascent and took some picture. I sat on one bolder and leaned my foot on another one for support and - without warning - a chunk of the bolder broke! I was so close to falling off the cliff!

We finally made it to the top - or what we think is the top. Here are some of the beautiful sights from the day:

The first spot we came across with a great view of a reservoir:

Some pretty foothills in the distance:

We came to a large open space with some beautiful views of the surrounding foothills! These next two photos try to capture the beauty that surrounded us:

As we looked out over the valley and into the foothills, we could see Seven Falls, but it was frozen. The stairway built there is what you can pay to walk up the side of the falls:

A really cool looking tree on the edge of the cliff I almost fell off:
A great view of the Broadmoor Hotel from the top of Mt. Cutler:

Downtown from the top of Mt. Cutler:

A view of the front of the foothills around the Peak. The orange/red in the middle is the Garden of the Gods:
