We had a great time with Micah's parents, Alvan and Amy. I think it was the perfect mix of relaxation and sight seeing. (I hope everyone else thought so too. I do tend to get tired pretty easily these days :) ) We went to the Garden of the Gods on an absolutely beautiful day. We then headed to the Air Force Academy. We stopped at the visitor's center and inside was a falcon with some of the Falconry team. We got to pet the bird, which is surprisingly soft. Micah got his picture taken with the falcon. (Unfortunately, I can't post now because I had my new camera set to the wrong setting. I first need to download a program and convert the files over to jpegs. If you want to see pics of the chapel there, you can see them here)

We went on a drive on Lower Gold Camp Road. It was a bit bumpier than I remember, but the last time we were on that road was about a year and a half ago. It still has the beautiful views I remembered. We also stopped at the Helen Hunt Falls (not named after the actress) and climbed the stairs to the top. Micah suggested walking to another waterfall that we saw from the road up, but I wasn't up for a hike (even a tiny one that I'd done before). Maybe we'll do it next time. We followed our forest excursion with a drive through the Broadmoor neighborhood to look at huge houses, a nap, and dinner at our favorite restaurant, Amanda's Fonda.

The waterfall that leads into Helen Hunt Falls. We weren't up for the hike, but got a good view here:

Saturday was a more laid back day. It started with a tour of Focus on the Family and then we attempted to go to the Mining Museum. After pulling up, we decided it wasn't worth the money and left. We drove around a bit, up to Monument and then showed off downtown. We had a delicious dinner grilled up by Micah and a relaxing evening watching a movie.
It was a great long weekend. I followed it by doing nothing for two days. Micah followed it by working. I think my way was better. :)
