This semester has been going a lot better than last semester over all. My senior classes have gotten better partially because they have gotten a lot smaller. Now the only students left are those who need that last math credit to graduate. I also think that this has made them more focused. They are also now trained - they do what I expect them to do without me having to constantly remind them and watch over them. One of my students even approached me and asked to teach the class. It was a nice break and all of the students enjoyed it.
Today, I gave the students a review worksheet with about 20 minutes left. All but 6 of the 27 students started on it and worked the rest of the hour. I then realized that these were the students that had been transferred into my class at semester. I put a lot of work into my students during the first half of the semester and they were all trained to do what I wanted them to do. Now, I have to start over and get these 6 on board. Sometimes I feel like they don't do anything I want them to do, but then I see days like today and I realize how far they've come. I really love my freshmen.
