Day 1 Of Homeownership

Our closing time was at 8:30 am. We asked for one early in the day, but I had no idea it would be that early! Oh well. After about an hour and a half of signing papers, we went to the house to get the keys. The other agent didn't come and left the keys in the lock box on the front door. We were kind of hoping that we would get handed the keys, but oh well.

We then went to go buy a bunch of stuff we needed: a new front door, screen and spline to re-screen the door, shower curtain rod, garage door openers, new locks for the back doors, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember.

We had to go to 3 different stores to get it all! We went to 2 different Lowes and a Home Depot. The first Lowes was out of everything we needed, the second one only had half of what we needed, and so off to Home Depot we went. UGH!

We replaced all of the locks and the front door. The front door was more of a challenge to put on than we thought, but Micah finally got it. We measured for the new hinges and got the first two in place, but the third one was way off. I don't know how we were so off when we measured. We remeasured a couple of times to double check. Then the locks for the new door didn't fit into the spaces in the frame, so we had to carve out new ones. That took a little longer than we thought. The front door is now on and looks great! And it is no longer hollow!

The new front door!!

The housewarming gift from our realtor - our first flowers!
