What was said and we we have to do

We heard back from the underwriters this morning. I'll go through all of the things the appraiser said and whether or not we have to fix them. We do not need to have the oven in before we close, but that isn't really a problem anymore since we bought one over the weekend. They ignored all that was said about the landscaping. The appraiser said that we needed to fix the two holes in the drywall (they are fairly small), but we don't need to worry about that. We do need a faucet on the kitchen sink. This was supposed to have been fixed and replaced by the bank's plumber. Apparently when the appraiser got there, it was missing. This is the bank's responsibility to fix. The final thing is that someone at some time decided to paint the back deck. This paint is now peeling. Peeling paint is bad, so we need to fix it before we will be allowed to buy the house. This is kinda weird to me because it's not our house yet but we have to fix it before we can buy it. Apparently that's how bank owned homes work. Our project for the weekend sounds like it will be fixing up the deck so the appraiser will approve of it. I think there were a few other things the appraiser mentioned, but the underwriters didn't so they don't matter. Glad we waited to hear what the underwriters said before we started to worry.

Now we have to learn how to patch holes in the drywall so we can paint on the 20th.

I also find it so odd that you have to fix certain seemingly small things before you can buy it. But I hope you guys are getting a fantastic deal on it! So close...

Yeah, apparently since our house is bank owned and "as is" the bank doesn't fix things. They don't care if we get the loan or not. If we don't someone else will come along and buy the house. So, if we want the house, we have to put some work into it. Fortunately it isn't much before we own it.
